This week on Writers Unbound, host Shelley Pomerance meets Tara McGowan-Ross, whose memoir, Nothing Will Be Different, tackles her struggles with alcohol, monogamy, and depression, while Baharan Baniahmadi’s Prophetess is a surrealistic tale about a young Iranian girl who develops extraordinary powers to fight against abuse and for the rights of women and girls. Two authors from very different worlds but with equally powerful messages. Also, we’ll have reading recommendations from Drawn and Quarterly, the Mile End bookstore.

Presented by the Association of English-language Publishers of Quebec, Writers Unbound is a series highlighting the best of Montreal’s local literary community. Developed in partnership with the Quebec Writers’ Federation, the show pairs two writers in conversation with host Shelley Pomerance, inviting them to reflect on their work and on what inspires them. Each episode also includes thematic book recommendations by local booksellers Librairie Drawn & Quarterly.
