Show recap and contacts
Dr. Kaberi Dasgupta and her team at the Research Institute of the MUHC recently demonstrated that a physician-delivered step count prescriptions (a physician writing down the number of steps on a prescription pad), combined with the use of a pedometer, can lead to a 20% increase in daily steps, as well as measurable health benefits, such as lower blood sugar and lower insulin resistance, for patients with hypertension and/or type 2 diabetes. Dr. Dasgupta was our guest on today’s show.
Les Batisseuses is an annual program of Habitat for Humanity that’s just for women. They’re looking for 100 women (divided into ten teams of 10) to attend one full day of volunteering each. The women have to raise $500 each and they leave with new skills, empowerment and often new friends.
This year’s build is in St-Henri. Women have until April 9th to register, alone or with their group (10 pax max) and until May 29th to raise the $500.
